ASAA
Each year the Arizona State Archery Association (ASAA) recognizes a man and woman who have made a lasting, significant contribution to the target archery community in Arizona. Award Page.

The 2006 recipients are Kari Granville and Wayne Davidson. Both are long time Arizona Archers and supporters of the Arizona archery community.

Kari Jill Granville began her Arizona archery career with the ASU Archery team where she became a Collegiate Archery All American. After graduating from ASU, Granville took on the task of revitalizing the ASU archery tradition by helping to establish and operate the ASU Archery Club (Sun Devil Archery) as a volunteer advisor and team coordinator. As the club began to take part in the USA College Archery Program (CAP), Kari’s skills and enthusiasm were quickly recognized by USA CAP where she was elected as Vice Chair of the leadership council. Thanks’ to encouragement from many including Granville, there are now four AZ CAP clubs, a 400% increase in a few short years. Kari works tirelessly as an archer, club leader, national collegiate archery leader, judge and volunteer. Kari Granville represents the Arizona archer community well. “Wow, that was a nice surprise, thank you, now I need to get back to work” tirelessly, Kari Granville.

“Salt of the Earth”, People who are salt of the earth are decent, dependable and unpretentious. Wayne Davidson is a National Champion archer, and for Arizona, much more. As part of the Black Canyon Archers, Wayne was an integral part of the creation and improvements of the FITA Range at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility. The Ben Avery FITA range is now the home of the ASAA and is “the range” for any major FITA tournament in Arizona. Wayne is also an avid field archer and has worked the ASAA Field championships many times. At times, if Wayne had not run the event it simply would not have taken place. When the ASAA needed a representative to the Arizona Game and Fish Department, Wayne was there. When 74 lane makers needed to be installed, Wayne did it. When last minute equipment picks up or delivery was needed, Wayne did it. What is most is remarkable is Davidson’s year in and year out, steadfast commitment and tireless work for target archery in Arizona. “I don’t know if I deserve this but I guess you guys do, thank you” Wayne Davidson.

Congratulations Wayne and Kari!
