Each year the Arizona State Archery Association (ASAA) recognizes a man and woman who have made a lasting, significant contribution to the target archery community in Arizona. Award Page.
The 2005 recipients are Barbara Noblet and Harold Rush. Both are long time Arizona Archers and supporters of the archery community.
Barbara Noblet balances being an archer and volunteering to help support and grow the sport. As an archer she has competed in the US World Team Trails and has been a member of the Arizona Duel in the Desert team, multiple times. She will begin serving her second term as an ASAA board member this year. A big part of Barbara’s service to the archery community is her volunteer work on Saturday mornings at the Papago Park Archery Range where Noblet and her fellow Papago FITA Archery club members offer free lessons to all that want to learn. “It’s a great honor to be awarded the Arizona Toxophilite Award. It's nice to be recognized by your peers and helps me to know that what I am doing, and how I am doing it is worthwhile.”
Harold Rush is the archer’s archer. He has represented Arizona and the USA twice on World Teams. He shoots multiple types of bows including bare bow and recurve. He competes in FITA target and FITA field. For many years he has hosted the “Payson Shoot” which attracts beginners’ and veterans with an emphasis on just having fun shooting arrows the best you can. A tireless field archery advocate, Harold conducts field seminars and has hosted the ASAA field championship many times. “I enjoy all types of archery and especially the people. Once you get hooked, you just find yourself helping wherever you can. I encourage all to help out whenever they can, and hope you find it as rewarding as I have.” Harold is a current ASAA Board member and has served on the board for about 15 of the last 20 years.
Congratulations Harold and Barbara!
